great horned owl

When we first moved to the country, we would see these magnificent birds often. The first time I saw one standing on the ground beyond our yard, I wasn’t sure what it was. It looked like a cat, but much larger. It’s gotten rather crowded out here (for the country) and I guess we humans have run them off. I’m sorry about that and can only hope that there will always be enough undeveloped land for them. On a happy note, I’ve heard one, two nights in a row, in the last few weeks. Maybe we can all live happily together after all.

{GIVEAWAY} Like or comment and share on Facebook and/or Pinterest and I will put your name in the hat for a 20″ framed giclee print. Drawing will take place Tuesday, March 10th!

Meet Jenny-O

Monday, February 2, 2015

This is Jenny-O. She lives next door and belongs to one of my best friends, Beverly. She is very friendly and photogenic and just begged to be painted. I used to be a little afraid of her, believe it or not with that sweet face; she would chase me when I walked through her pasture. I figured out that she was just checking to see if I had carrots so now she’s not so scary. She’s a Mammoth Jack and her legs and ears are a mile long. She will be available on the website soon, available in ┬áseveral sizes, framed or gallery wrapped.

In other news, we’re back from market and in production mode. David is busy in the barn, I’m painting originals for shows in Ft Worth and Round Top in March, we’re both having fun with our first grandbaby. Working hard and playing hard! Hope you are finding the right balance in your life, too.
